Eastwood Educational Foundation

The Eastwood Educational Foundation, Inc. (EEF), a non-profit charitable corporation, was formed in 1986 by a group of community citizens to promote educational excellence and innovation within the Eastwood School District. The original Board of Trustees also realized that there was a need to expand the scholarship opportunities for graduating seniors. As a result, the Board established Educational Mini-Grant Scholarships for Eastwood staff members and Foundation College Scholarships for graduating seniors.

The original Board of Trustees included:

  • Robert Bruning
  • Nigel Davies
  • Joseph Hirzel
  • Rolland Huss
  • James Keiser
  • Marion Layman
  • Lester Poggemeyer
  • Karol Poth
  • John Schulte

The current members of the EEF Board of Trustees have continued the goals established by the original trustees. The following is a more detailed description of the scholarship opportunities available for Eastwood staff and students.

Educational Mini-Grant Scholarships:

The original Board of Trustees realized that enrichment programs were vital to a well-rounded education and implemented the Educational Mini-Grant Scholarships. The mini-grants were designed to support innovative educational activities and projects not necessarily funded through the school budget.

The mini-grants continue to be awarded annually on the basis of innovation and/or enrichment of the educational experiences for students. Any Eastwood staff member, group, or organization providing services to the Eastwood School District is eligible to apply for a mini-grant.

The mini-grants are funded through the interest earned on the EEF general fund. In an effort to increase the principal balance and ultimately the scholarship money awarded, individuals and organizations in the community are invited to make a tax-deductible donation to the account. Donors will be recognized based upon the level of donation as follows:

  • Blue Level
  • Red Level
  • White Level
$1,000 and Above
$500 - $999
$499 and Below

Current donors include:

    Donations at the Blue Level:

  • In Memory of Holly Engelman
  • In Honor of the Foundation Charter Trustees

    Donations at the White Level:

  • In Memory of Norman Swartz

Donations to the Educational Mini-Grant Scholarships (check payable to the Eastwood Educational Foundation) may be forwarded to:
