Dear Parents and Community Members:

DIERKER AND SCHLUMBOHM - NATIONAL FOOTBALL FOUNDATION AWARDS

National Football Foundation recently held their annual dinner at the Stranahan Hall in Toledo. Ohio State coach Urban Meyer was this year's guest speaker.

Eastwood senior Skylar Dierker was one of thirty-three high school football players from Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan honored as scholar-athletes.

To be eligible for these awards football players must be nominated by their coach and have a minimum 3.2 grade point average. They also usually have been at least first team in their conference. Additional criteria that the NFF committee considers are examples of leadership and service to their school and community.

Kyle Schlumbohm, a 2011 NFF scholar-athlete, received the "Distinguish Service Scholarship" for $2,500. Kyle is a freshman at Kent State University.

Congratulations to Skylar and Kyle!

NEW SECURITY SYSTEM/PROCEDURES FOR HIGH SCHOOL

The week we returned to school after break, we began our new building security procedures that were mentioned before break. Things have gone well with the students and parents and visitors to the building have been very cooperative and patient with us as we worked the bugs out of the system. Listed below is a reminder of those new policies and procedures.

The new protocols/procedures are as follows: (Started Monday, April 8th)

  1. The only entry into the high school for anyone before school, during school and after school will be through the main set of doors off of Sugar Ridge Rd. and off of Luckey Rd. All other hallway doors will be locked before, during and after school.

  2. Before school begins the main doors will be unlocked for students/staff to enter the building. At 7:45 the main doors will be locked until 2:23pm(end of school day).

  3. If visitors/parents come to the high school building, the only entrance and exit duringthe school day is through the main doors. The first set of doors will be unlocked but the second set (inside doors) will be locked. To be admitted to the building, visitors will hit the call button marked by the door and will be asked to identify themselves and state who they would like to talk to. Once they are admitted to the building they will report directly to the high school office.

  4. Students will not under any circumstances be allowed to leave the building and go to their vehicles during the school day (7:45am to 2:23pm). If there are items in their car that they will need for school they will need to bring them in the building at the start of the day.

  5. No students/staff should admit anyone into the building at any of the entry ways. Entry into the building should only be done by office personnel.
